Our Core Values

We have ten core values that guide us and ensure that everything we do is aligned with our vision and mission. These core values reveal what is important to the body at Maysville.

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s inspired and infallible Word. It is the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for Christians. The Bible is both timeless and timely relevant to the common needs of all people at all times and to the specific problems of contemporary living. Therefore, we are committed to equipping Christians through Expository Preaching, teaching of God’s Word and discipleship. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is God who has come in the flesh (John 1:1). Jesus Christ is the Head and Authority of the church and we submit ourselves and all our activities to His will and good pleasure. (Eph. 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18)

SALVATION

All people have broken God’s perfect standard and therefore have sinned against Him. Our just punishment is eternal death and separation from God. There are no works or good deeds that will restore our broken relationship with Him. But God in His love and grace offers all people Forgiveness of sin and eternal life through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone. Through faith in Christ our broken relationship is restored. Therefore we seek to proclaim this GOOD NEWS in our community and beyond.

LOCAL CHURCH

The local church is made up those who have trusted in Christ for Salvation and have been Baptized. Believers have been given by God the authority, power, and responsibility to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person in the world. We believe that the local church is a family where loving relationships permeate every aspect of church lifetherefore we spend time in fellowship and ministry together in order to build strong relationships with each other. Every Christian has been given spiritual gifts and a God-given ministry. We seek to equip every believer to effectively accomplish the work of ministry in order to edify the body of Christ and reach the world.(Mark 16:15) (Eph. 4:1-16) (1 Cor. 12) (1 Cor. 3:16-17)

DISCIPLESHIP

The mission of the church is to make disciples of all nations as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:18-20. We are committed to small group discipleship as an effective means of building relationships, stimulating spiritual growth, and developing leaders who become disciple makers through discipleship. Through Biblical teaching and loving accountability we seek to raise up and deploy equipped, mature and fully devoted followers of Christ who engage in being a witness and making more disciples in our community and beyond.

DISCIPLESHIP OF OUR CHILDREN

In addition to making disciples of the adults in the church, we are committed to teaching and discipling the next generation of Christian leaders through Children’s and Youth Ministry.  We seek to support parents in the spiritual nourishment and discipleship of their children. We have many fun and safe activities for children from K-6 grade and youth from 7-12 grade. We desire that each child/youth come to know God in a real and personal way. We desire that each child/youth would grow in their relationship with Christ and become a fully devoted follower of Christ, serving with their gifts, growing in community with God’s people and sharing Jesus with others.

A COMMITMENT TO PRAYER

God desires His people to pray and hears and answers prayer (Matt. 7:7-11; James 5:13-18). Therefore, the ministries and activities of this church will be characterized by a reliance on prayer in their conception, planning, and execution (Acts 1:14).

FAMILY

We support the spiritual nurture of the family as one of God’s dynamic means to perpetuate the Christian faith (2 Tim. 1:5). We seek to provide an atmosphere that strengthens marriages and families by providing encouragement, education and accountability.

MISSIONS

God’s heart and desire is for every nation, tribe, people and language to know Him personally (Revelation 7:9). Jesus commanded the church to share the Gospel and make disciples of all nations (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:18-20). We strive as a church to be on mission wherever God has placed us. We seek to make disciples who are prepared to be on mission in our community, state, nation and internationally.

MINISTRY EXCELLENCE

The Lord Himself is a God of excellence, as shown by the beauty of creation; further, He gave the best that He had, His only Son, for us. Therefore, we seek to honor and glorify Him by maintaining a high standard of excellence in all our ministries and activities (Col. 3:23-24). This will be achieved through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in each believer as they daily spend personal time with God (John 15:5) and exercise their God-given spiritual gift(s) to the best of their ability (1 Cor. 12).
